Huron has a wide variety of outdoor activities available for all ages, from hunting and fishing to spending time on beautiful Lake Byron (15 minutes north) or right in town on the James River. There are plenty of outdoor activities to keep one busy. Walking trails extend from Riverside Park to the north end of Memorial Park and circle Ravine Lake. The Maga TaHohpi Waterfowl Production area is a place of peace and tranquility where vistors can renew an intimate tie with nature.
There are plenty activities for families to enjoy such as golf, mini-golf, bowling, catching a movie at a downtown theater, walking on the trails or picnicing and playing in the park. Or bring your own games for the campground, there’s plenty of room!
Mini Golf, Paddle Boats, Kayaks & Ice Cream
Putters and Scoops, located in Ravine Lake Park in Huron, is a great gathering spot while you’re in town. Enjoy a fun yet challenging mini golf course, rent a paddle boat or kayak and cruise the lake, then reward yourself with delicious handdipped ice cream afterward!

Huron offers three golf courses: Huron Country Club (challenging 9-hole course), Memorial Park Golf Course (par 3 executive course) and Broadland Creek National Golf Course (challenging 18-hole course). There are also two bowling alleys in Huron to enjoy, Fair City Lanes and Riverview Lanes.
Exercise & Workout
The Nordby Center for Recreation is a premier recreational facility open year-round, seven days a week. The facility includes a track, pool, weight room, tennis, basketball, volleyball and racquetball courts. Open to both members and non-members.
The Corn Palace (45 Minutes Away In Mitchell)
In nearby Mitchell, visit the renowned Corn Palace. The Corn Palace offers free guided tours led by friendly guides full of a-maize-ing facts. (Like how many nails and staples are used in the decoration process.) The tour also features an outstanding video explaining the Corn Palace Story. After the tour you can view displays about the Corn Palace, how the murals are created, souvenirs and entertainment from the past and how the corn is grown. Come and experience it! Visiting is free!

The World’s Largest Pheasant
The pheasant is located on Highway 14 near the Dakota Inn. Steel and fiberglass have been molded to create a 28- foot, 22-ton pheasant. From the tip of its feathered tail to the beak, it spans 40 feet.
