WISSOTA Auto Racing assumes ownership
of former banquet weekend RACEMN Expo
ST. CLOUD, MN (Feb 13) The RACEMN Motorsports Expo, slated for November 9 & 10, 2007 at the St. Cloud Civic Center in St. Cloud, Minnesota, was promised to be “Bigger & Badder in 2007” after the conclusion of the 2006 show. That brave statement will ring true with a stunning move completed by the WISSOTA Promoters Association this past week.
The WISSOTA Promoters Association, Inc. and Atomic XR, Inc. of St. Cloud, Minnesota have reached a buyout agreement for the purchase of RACEMN Motorsports Expo. The Expo is a dynamic, hands-on motorsports event that offers information, products and discussions from various facets of the high-performance industry that appeal to everyone from the casual fan to professional racing teams. The Expo, launched in 2006, will be held annually in conjunction with the WISSOTA annual meeting and national banquet scheduled every year on the second weekend of November in St. Cloud. In fact, with the completion of the buyout, both parties feel that the opportunity is endless for the show to thrive into the future.
“I looked at it from many sides,” stated Atomic XR, Inc and RACEMN founder Barry Braun. “The current state of the industry, the amount of work that a show like this takes, the bottom line, and most important...what is best for the drivers drove my decision. RACEMN was truly a labor of love for me and my company and when WISSOTA approached me with a buyout idea during discussions last week, I strongly felt after looking at all scenarios that this is the path the show needed to take. They have the infrastructure and organization to really makes things happen.”
The inaugural RACEMN Expo, held last November 10 & 11, 2006, was a landmark success that set a precedent for that balmy November weekend in the heartland of Minnesota. With over 65 vendors and 500 attendees for a one day show, RACEMN was launched with positive fanfare.
“This is an excellent opportunity for our drivers and for our organization,” added WISSOTA president Terry Voeltz. “Barry put together a great idea and forged a successful first Expo, and we want to continue that under the WISSOTA banner. It was a no-brainer purchase for us because it affords our drivers, sponsors, promoters, member tracks, and manufacturers in the racing industry the ability to network all in one setting on one action-packed weekend.”
As part of the agreement, Atomic XR, Inc. will retain the “RACEMN” name and utilize it for a web-based media project to be launched in March. In coming weeks, WISSOTA will re-brand the RACEMN Motorsports Expo with a new name, and event information will follow soon thereafter.
WISSOTA will also pursue additional strategic partners to promote, produce and participate in the show.
