Very few rules changes to go into effect for
the 2008 WISSOTA dirt track racing season


ST. CLOUD, MN (November 10, 2007) - The WISSOTA promoters, who met Friday and Saturday for a lengthy session of rules meetings, pared down the extensive list of proposed rule changes for WISSOTA's six divisions and approved very few rule changes for the 2008 season.

Following are the only rule changes being implemented for each division in 2008:

WISSOTA LATE MODELS

• WISSOTA approved cast iron cylinder heads can continue to be utilized.
• Beginning April 1, 2008, WISSOTA stamped Hoosier WRS2 55 compound is to be used on all corners of the car; however, driver may choose to utilize WRS tire on the right rear in 2008.
• Grooving and siping of tires is allowed.
• Drivers may opt to use existing legal Hoosier D30 and D55 tires on the front of the race car until June 2, 2008.

WISSOTA MODIFIEDS

• Engine compartment may now be enclosed by side panels.
• Nose fins may be utilized on each side of nose piece of car. No more than one fin on each side of nose piece. Maximum height of fin is 3 inches.
• The top of each door panel can extend no further forward than the back of the engine block. However, the bottom of the door panel may extend up to 12 inches forward from the back of the engine block.
• Beginning April 1, 2008, the WISSOTA stamped EMod H40 tire is to be used on all four corners of the car; however, drivers may opt to use EMod D40 and A40 tires on the front of the car until June 2, 2008. The siping and grooving rule is the same as in 2007.

WISSOTA SUPER STOCKS

• Drivers are allowed to use steel heim joints and steel swedge tubes on outer tie rods.
• Beginning April 1, 2008, the WISSOTA stamped EMod H40 tire is to be used on all four corners of the car; however, drivers may opt to use EMod D40 and A40 tires on the front of the car until June 2, 2008. The siping and grooving rule is the same as in 2007.

WISSOTA MIDWEST MODIFIEDS

• Beginning April 1, 2008, the WISSOTA stamped EMod H40 tire is to be used on all four corners of the car; however, drivers may opt to use EMod D40 and A40 tires on the front of the car until June 2, 2008. The siping and grooving rule is the same as in 2007.

• Please note that although the body rules have been changed for the WISSOTA Modified division, there were no changes made to the WISSOTA Midwest Modified body rules.

WISSOTA STREET STOCKS

• Beginning April 1, 2008, the WISSOTA stamped EMod H40 tire is to be used on all four corners of the car; however, drivers may opt to use EMod D40 and A40 tires, or Dirt Stocker/Super Dirt Stocker, on the front of the car until June 2, 2008. Siping and grooving is allowed (same rule as Midwest Modifieds).

WISSOTA MOD FOURS

• All rear suspension links are allowed to have steel heim joints.
• The maximum width allowed for any Mod Four wheel is 7 inches.
• The tire rule remains the same as in 2007.
