WISSOTA board members vote to allow "run off" of soft
compound tires on front of Late Models, Modifieds,
Midwest Modifieds, Super Stocks & Streets until May 31, 2008

BLOOMINGTON, MN - At the most recent meeting, WISSOTA's board members voted to amend an earlier decision on the tire rules for several divisions beginning in 2008.

In response to driver requests, the WISSOTA board of directors voted to allow drivers in WISSOTA Modifieds, Super Stocks, Midwest Modifieds and Street Stocks a "run off" period at the start of the 2008 season for their A40 compound tires.

Drivers in those four divisions will all be allowed to run off their existing inventory of Hoosier A40 E-Mod tires on the front of their cars until May 31, 2008, which should ease the transition to the single compound rule that is being implemented across WISSOTA for the first time next season.

Although they will be allowed to use the A40 tires on the front of the car, drivers will have to run H40 compound tires on the rear of the car beginning immediately in 2008.

Effective June 1, 2008, drivers in the Modifieds, Super Stocks, Midwest Modifieds and Street Stocks will have to run the H40 compound on all four corners of the car.

In the WISSOTA Late Model division, drivers will be able to use any currently legal tires on the front of the car to start the season as well. This means that they can use the WISSOTA D30 or D55 tire until May 31, 2008. Drivers must use the WRS-2 55 compound on the left rear and must use either the 55 compound WRS or WRS-2 for the right rear starting immediately in 2008.

As of June 1, 2008, Late Model drivers must have the 55 compound WRS-2 on the front and left rear, and either the 55 compound WRS or WRS-2 on the right rear of the car.
