Superior Speedway returns to WISSOTA racing community in 2008

DASSEL, MN - Under new promoter Arnie Ranta, Superior Speedway will rejoin the WISSOTA Promoters Association in 2008. The sanctioning decision was made by Ranta and announced on Wednesday, January 30.

Superior Speedway plans to host AMSOIL Dirt Track Series events featuring WISSOTA Late Models, WISSOTA Modifieds, WISSOTA Super Stocks, WISSOTA Midwest Modifieds and WISSOTA Street Stocks on a weekly basis on Friday nights beginning with the early-May season opener and running through the annual Northern Nationals event at the beginning of September.

Since being awarded the contract to promote Superior Speedway by Douglas County in mid-December, Ranta has been busy assembling a top-notch staff to assist in operating the fairgrounds facility oval track. He and his crew look forward to working closely with neighboring WISSOTA member tracks such as ABC Raceway in Ashland, Wisconsin, Hibbing Raceway in Hibbing, Minnesota and Proctor Speedway near Duluth, MN.

Each of those tracks shares cars and drivers with Superior Speedway, and starting again in 2008, competitors can once again race at their choice of tracks in the region under the same rules package.

"I've been a longtime fan of Superior Speedway," said Ranta, "and I've always felt that it was the premier dirt track in this area. I'm looking forward to injecting new and fresh ideas to the program and also becoming an active member of the WISSOTA racing community."

Ranta has indicated he plans to continue working with both AMSOIL, Inc., which is headquartered in Superior, and Como Oil and Propane to include their respective series events for WISSOTA Late Models and Modifieds at the track in 2008. He will have additional announcements about special events in the coming weeks leading up to the season opener.
