PRESS RELEASE FROM WISSOTA 2008

WISSOTA will host three regional 100 events in 2008; western, central and eastern shows planned

DASSEL, MN - In an effort to provide more drivers with the opportunity to race at a premier WISSOTA event in the coming season, the WISSOTA board of directors has engaged in planning for a trio of WISSOTA 100s in 2008 rather than just two.

"We've recognized for some time that it was very difficult for the hundreds of drivers from the western region of WISSOTA to participate in a WISSOTA 100," said WISSOTA's Terry Voeltz. "Even with the Western 100 in South Dakota the last several years, it just wasn't realistic to expect the drivers from the far west to drive 600-700 miles or more to race."

"Last year when several of us as board members went to Gillette (WY), we talked to lots of drivers and a number of the promoters from Montana and Wyoming. They thought it would be a great idea to add a new WISSOTA 100 event in their region, so as a board we asked the membership to approve that at our annual meeting in November," he added.

In 2008, there will be a Western WISSOTA 100 in either Wyoming or Montana; several tracks have asked for the opportunity to bid on the event, including Gillette Speedway in Wyoming, Casper Speedway in Wyoming and Gallatin Speedway in Montana. There will be a Central WISSOTA 100 at Dakota State Fair Speedway in Huron, SD (the only qualified track in the region to bid); and there will be an Eastern WISSOTA 100 in Minnesota, where North Central Speedway and Proctor Speedway are vying for the opportunity to host the event.

"The addition of a third WISSOTA 100 provides us with the opportunity to give more racers and more fans a chance to share in the tradition of the 100s," said WISSOTA board member Scott Hughes. "WISSOTA created the 100s name and concept, and along with its drivers has built a tremendous tradition; the WISSOTA 100s are the most well-known and prestigious dirt track racing events hosted in the six state, two province WISSOTA region. Even more importantly, WISSOTA's drivers benefit directly from the success of these events," Hughes added.

The WISSOTA board of directors will review the background and bid information of all interested tracks at its February 20 meeting and expects to announce the locations of the host tracks within days after that.

WISSOTA's 50 member promoters and its board of directors invite and encourage all drivers to make plans to attend one of the three WISSOTA 100s being held in 2008. The dates for this year's 100s will be between September 10th and 13th.
