Clarification on Vent Bar Rule..!

PrintFriendly

Hello everyone,

The WISSOTA board has decided to change the vent bar rule that was posted on the website just a few days ago.

The rule will be as follows:

Vent Bar Required, consult your chassis builder for proper location.

Now , I realize that without there being a measurement, some of you will think this is a very vague rule, and in some ways it is, but after reviewing this, there is no way we can come up with a measurement for all of the chassis's that are out there, and we feel it would be virtually impossible to come up with a measurement that would fit all of the chassis brands.

So here is the deal, I have personally witnessed cages collapsing into the drivers compartment, and I'm asking every one of you to use common sense in this deal. Make your car safe!! Don't come to the track with a 2" vent bar, and expect it to be safe!! This rule was not intended to make people mad, it was intended to make our cars safer, and reduce the risk of cage collapse form a nasty crash, that's it, nothing more.

I'm also aware that there are a few people out there that will be upset with the above change.

For that I apologize.

I personally asked the board to make this change, and they all agreed to the change.

If anyone wants to blame someone, direct it towards me, and not Bill Engelstad, he did exactly what was asked of him on this rule, and he did a great job coming up with the previous rule.
